Best Cup of Tea You'll Ever Make
After hearing about this tea maker during a recent visit to a tea shop, I logged in to Amazon to read the reviews, and scoured the web for videos of this tea maker in action. The reviews are correct - this is an incredible appliance.
PROS:
- effortless to make perfect tea
- tea comes out exactly right
- tea prepared at the proper temperature
- water temperature is held while tea is steeped
- can be set to brew tea at a programmed time
- can also function to just make hot water
- keeps tea hot for 1 hour after brewing
- includes a tea scoop
CONS:
- pricy, but worth the money
- carafe cannot be washed under running water
- electric cord is a little shorter than I would like (would've preferred 4-6 inches longer)

The ultimate tea maker
My wife was a daily green tea (teabag out of the box under the counter) drinker. For the holidays, I thought I would expand her horizons in the tea arena by purchasing her some high-quality green tea from Teavana, along with a basic steeper, thermometer, scoop, and timer. While she absolutely loved the tea, it was too much work and all of the equipment took up a lot of space.
Of course, basic water heaters can be had for $30, but are usually are made of plastic and lack basic features like auto-shutoff, and good temperature control, which is needed for different teas worth drinking. The first time I looked at this tea maker, I laughed and said, "I can't believe someone can net $250 for a pot that boils water!".
