Sunbeam Hand Mixer
Nice mixer
I've had this mixer for several years now and it has held up nicely. It's very powerful even on the lowest setting. Only con is that the finish on the handle comes off unto my hands when I use the mixer. It's a sticky, oily black goo that is hard to wash off. I've wrapped the handle with paper towel so I don't have to touch it. Other than that I'm happy with it.
Tough, inexpensive mixer, but no slow speed setting
Like all the other reviews state, this mixer does not have a low speed, and that will make it unusable for some projects. It pretty much goes from medium-fast to "Holy crap, Dorothy! Grab Toto and head for the storm cellar!!!", so whatever mixing you do will have to be in a relatively tall bowl so that you don't redecorate your kitchen. However, for twelve dollars at Big Lots, it's a steal. It's a robust little machine. I've mixed several cakes with it over the last couple of years, and it shows no sign of wearing down. The beaters quickly detach for easy cleaning.
I have this mixer
I have this mixer and I bought it at big lots for only 12 bucks plus tax. I like the design and overall ergonomics of this mixer. However, I am returning it tomorrow because it is too powerful at it's lowest setting. I wish it was slower so my butter and cream would fly onto my walls. This leaves me wondering who would ever use this machine at it's fastest speed (setting 6). I need something that is spins slower at it's lowest setting.
