KitchenAid New Professional 5.5 QT Commercial Style Wide Steel Bowl Stand Mixer 550 HD 575 Watt Motor- Empire Red
Very Useful Must Have Item For Your Kitchen
I purchased this KitchenAid after looking at mixers for quite awhile. I kept coming back to the KitchenAid, as it was the same mixer I'd seen in my mother's kitchen, as well as the kitchens of many people I know who are avid chefs.
Things I like about this:
1. It is very heavy duty. There is nothing cheap feeling about this mixer. The bowl fits solidly into the lifting arms, and even when mixing dough at high speed, the mixer barely moves at all.
2. It comes with the basic attachments you will use constantly. We've made many doughs and mixes, and the motor has handled everything we've thrown at it.
Things I don't like about this mixer:
1. When using the whisk attachment for trying to make some whipped cream, it didn't feel like it was going all the way down into the bowl, and after 5 minutes, it hadn't frothed up into whipped cream. Perhaps it failed as I was using half and half instead of heavy whipping cream, but my hand...
Yay Costco sale!
I bought this at Costco in Canada for $289cad. As far as I can tell this model is exactly the same as the Pro 6 series except it does not have the little bobble on the bowl lift lever and it doesn't come with a pouring shield. Other than that it's the same!
Pros:
- The bowl says 6qt on the side of mine so ....that's cool
- It goes on sale for an amazing price at Costco frequently
- I use it for everything now, meatloaf ,breads, cakes and cookies
- high power
Cons:
- The burnished metal is really annoying. Not dishwasher safe and if you leave it wet the metal discolors. I'm not sure why they don't offer stainless steel - that would be way better! But I guess they want to make money on you buying replacements when you mess up and leave it in the sink overnight :( there are no good options for the paddle and dough hook though, the coated ones are dishwasher safe but they crack and the burnished metal ones need to be cleaned and dried...
Replacement PARTS for KITCHENAID PROFESSIONAL 550 and more info
I purchased this Mixer last week at Costco's for an awesome low price.
Since I bake Breads and Pizzas with heavy dough's, especially Whole Wheat and Rye, my main concern was to make sure I can get replacement parts just in case. This is a small Investment given my other one is 11 Years old and still fully functioning. I am giving that one up for adoption now! :-)
I decided before I even try the machine, to contact Kitchen Aid Customer Service per e-mail and got a response within 48 hours.KUDOS to their fast, professional, and friendly Customer Service.
Well Kitchen Aid actually does not make the 5.5 Quart Bowl but they do stand behind their product! Comes to find out it can be replaces with a 6 Quart Bowl (dough wont climb up and out- I have one already), and there are replacement beaters. See below!
The coated flat beater part number KN256CBT.
The coated dough hook part number is KN256CDH.
They do not manufacture a 5.5 quart...
