Hamilton Beach 37541 'Digital Simplicity' Rice Cooker & Steamer

Great Product but Beware!
We bought this product at a local store a month ago.

Pros:
* Great looks matching our other stainless steel/black-themed kitchen appliances.
* The "Brown Rice" feature makes cooking brown rice as easy as cooking white rice.
* Customer Service was helpful and courteous.

Cons:
The first unit we bought was defective. Though it cooks rice as expected, the LED readout which was counting down the number of minutes left before done changed to "E1" and "E2" near the end of the process. We contacted Customer Service but they couldn't figure out what went wrong and suggested us to bring it back to the store for a replacement. The replacement unit works as expected.

Hamilton Beach-Stand/Hand Mixer

Needs Stirring Speed
Doesn't really have a low speed - I quickly learned to pre-stir with a spatula to moisten dry ingredients. Even though the bowl could be slid off center to allow for easier addition of ingredients as it was mixing, I had to do pretty much constant spatula work to help keep things going through the whisks no matter where I positioned the bowl. Just after the warranty expired it suffered a sudden death the first time I used it to make marzipan. Slow speed is a must for thicker doughs, so I should have known it would probably be too much to ask of this non-heavy duty model.

Beyond awful
If I could give this negative five stars I would, I simply cannot comprehend how anyone could rate this cheap, shoddy item higher. The only useful thing is the bowl... everything else is just awful. Even at the lowest possible speed, the bowl spins so fast that whatever you're mixing crawls right up the side and barely contacts the beaters. And yet, the mixer is so under powered that even at it's fastest speed, it can't shake off a very loose peanut butter cookie dough off the beaters, requiring you to clear them by hand. It is very difficult to lock the hand mixer to the very lightweight and CHEAP thin plastic base, and it tends to fly off. The main purpose of a stand mixer is the ability to add ingredients without needing to use a hand to hold the mixer, and that simply is not possible with this item. In fact, you'd probably need more than three hands, one to keep the mixer from flying off the stand, one to keep the bowl from flying off the turntable, one to add ingredients, and one...

Terrible
I bought this at Kmart for 24 bucks, on sale in Nov 2012. It is not even worth the 20 bucks! It is completely terrible.

You have to use a spatula or mixing spoon the entire time that the mixer is running, because the beaters do not even get close to the sides or the bottom of the bowl. You have to constantly push your ingredients into the beaters, while their running, while the bowl is spinning. It is sooo much easier to just use my cheap old hand mixer.

The floating plate that the bowl sits on, that moves side to side is useless because it does not move far enough to either side to make any difference in the area of the bowl that is being mixed. All this is, is a propped up hand mixer.

It lacks any kind of power and overall feels cheap and cheesy. It doesn't lock into place easily and once it is locked in to place, it never actually feels like it is secure and locked properly. Lifting it all but requires you to pinch your fingers in between the mixer...

Hamilton Beach Hand Blender Delivers More Taste, Less Cleanup

Just the best
I really love this hand blender. It saves dragging out the big blender and having to wash it after use. This Hamilton Beach is far superior to another brand I had previously purchased because it moves around freely in the bowl. I think this is because of the little U-shaped notches around the rim. The older one I had, which did not have the notches, just sucked right to the bottom and wouldn't move from that position.

Handy Andy
I use this most every day to mix my Slimfast for lunch. If I need a mixer for cooking I use this because it's handy.

Hamilton Beach Hand Blender
I received this as a gift years ago and it finally broke, so I bought a few different ones which my wife didn't like, so, I had to look until I found this exact one for her, now she's happy again, this one is easy to use, handle, clean and plenty of power, there's nothing out of the ordinary about it, just a good simple reliable and convenient design
