Buck Diamond Taper 5205

Buck Tapered Diamond Sharpner
This little sharpener works great, just a few swipes and your done on a straight blade, and is the ideal tool for all serrated blades, alloys such as cobalt should not be used with this sharpner.

Small, simple and incredibly effective.
I bought one of these these five years ago. It was a last minute impulse purchase at a marine supply store. I have had it on my boat since. It stores inside its own pastic sheath and lives in the knife bin. It works as well now as it did when I bought it. Unfortunately, Buck no longer makes them. They are ideal for boats, motor homes and for anyone who travels because it is so small and self-contained and yet it works better than many home sharpeners.

Jarden MrC Steam Espresso Maker

Awesome Steamer with Minor Adjustment
So I bought this machine like everyone else trying to save a couple bucks instead of going to Starbucks all the time. First time I tried it I had the same problem everyone else did...only 4 seconds of steam for the milk...than I remembered reading somewhere online about adding more water to your machine than the directions say for less bitter tasting espresso and figured that also might work for the steamer. So I added enough water for 4 shots...2 for espresso plus 2 extra for steam, brewed my 2 shots of the Espresso and than turned the machine off. Than I turned on the steamer for my milk OMG!!!I had more steam than I needed to make three Mochas. It took several minutes for all the steam to finally run out! And the actual mocha I've been making taste just as good as Starbucks which shocked me because normally the home brewed stuff tastes really burnt. This doesn't. This steamer with the extra water works better than both the $350+ dollar pump machines my parents have invested in. If...

First Espresso Machine for a Coffee Lover
I bought this for my parents this past Christmas (2011) and with all of us being avid coffee drinkers, we hooked it right up. My fifteen year old brother was able to set it up without directions; it is just that easy, although the directions are really simple to follow- not much handling required. My mother used to be a barista for a local coffee company so we let her have the first go. Our first two espresso's were hot, but not as hot as needed for espresso, but the flavor was great. However, the second round (my mother got the hang of it real quick) was perfect in temp and the flavor was amazing. Then we got funky with it and instead of using skim milk with the frother we used half skim, half french vanilla creamer. Oh my gosh were those amazing! My mother continued to make mochas and cappuccinos throughout the day and even zested some godiva chocolate on the top! Everyone was very pleased with the quality of the coffee that was being brewed. We must have made at least four dozen...

It Works! (instruction manual poor)
I was ready to give up on this machine, but decided to wait a day and try again. The machine has two separate functions: making espresso and foaming milk. Each require water in the water reservoir. So, if making both espresso AND foaming milk, put extra water into the water reservoir. Use the dial to turn it to the function you want e.g. "brew" to make espresso, and when you have the expected amount of espresso in the carafe, then turn the dial to off, put the froth tip into the pitcher of milk, and turn dial to steam. There should be plenty of water in the reservoir, so there will be plenty of steam to heat the milk. Voile! Then, it's just a matter of learning how to froth correctly. I like the machine now.

Sunbeam GC8101-RED 1-Quart Gel Canister Ice Cream Maker, Red

First hand comparison of 3 ice cream makers
COMPARISON:
Cuisinart Automatic 1.5 qt
the Rival Gel Canister, and the
Rival Electric 4&6 qt ice

I have had quite the experience with ice cream makers lately and am happy to pass on my own comparison.

I actually bought the Rival Electric 6qt ice on a whim when I passed by it in the store. This is the same one as the 4qt. ice cream maker that uses rock salt and ice, just larger. (I know it's the same because the inlaws have the 4qt. It was on sale at Wal-Mart and even cheaper than Amazon.

I then exchanged the above ice cream maker, after issues I will get to, for the Rival Gel.

You'll notice, however, I have the "verified purchase stamp" on my review of the Cuisinart 1.5 qt automatic ice cream maker. That's because I gave up with Rival after continued problems with my first two ice cream makers and ordered the Cuisinart from Amazon. It's a keeper. However, you may actually prefer one of the other ones I used more if your needs...

Not perfect, but a nice product!
We purchased this ice cream maker a week ago, so far so good!

The Pro's:
It's inexpensive- $29.99 at our local target.

It's small. This means easy to store! I have a small kitchen with limited cabinet space and you can store the base in the freezer.

It's quick- only 10-20 minutes of mixing and the ice cream is done.

The Con's:
It's small. Small is good when it comes to storage, but not so good for capacity. It makes a quart- that's all! This is perfect for us though, being a family of three. Two or three small scoops each and there's even enough left to store in the freezer.

It's not "hard" like store bought ice cream when it's fresh from the mixer. You have to put it in the freezer for an hour of two to harden. We don't mind, but some might so I am mentioning it here! :)

You have to plan ahead: Some of the recipes require mixing the ingredients and refrigerating them. Also, you have to freeze the...

Get what you pay for
It's really loud, and after 20 minutes the motor overheats and stops--and that's when the ice cream was still liquid! (The instruction manual says this is a safety feature; you have to wait 20 more minutes for it to cool down and then you can restart). It did that twice--again, while the ice cream was still liquid. What on earth is it going to do when it's thick like ice cream is supposed to be? You should pay a little more for something of higher quality. I'm taking this back.

Grizzly H7299 Plastic Bag - 9" x 12" x 4mil - 100 pc.

Not so great
These are supposed to be used with a sealer, which is not mentioned in the description. They have a perforated edge as though they were torn from a large roll. I thought that they were sealable as the bottom of the picture seems to show. They are not. A pretty hefty price for what you get.

Clear bags for storage or whatever
I used these for my online business. They are perfect for shirts as they also have a way to seal them. Great product!

Presto Fry Daddy Electric Deep Fryer

With so many Srs alone these days IT'S THE PERFECT ITEM!
My innards & chops for whatever reason - as is true with my neighbors mostly single Sr. bldg tenants - now often crave all types of potato dishes. Most of all "French Fries" but heck....who wants to waste oil and ohhhh the mess....

I looooove that FryDaddy (apptly named) has been placed on the market. It's perfect for a male size handful of 'tatters that does not require a "big pot" full of oil to cook and so often wasted since weeks later you forgot you stuck the "leftover strained oil" in back of the fridge or freezer. FryDaddy by its smaller WIDTH alone means MUCH LESS oil needs to be utilized. (By the way... Peanut Oil not only contains NO cholesterol but...also does not smoke if a thermostat goes too high. Not to add it's "healthy".) FryDaddy MAINTAINS ONLY ONE temperature (I'm told by Presto between 360/365 which is 90% of what cooks use for nearly everything you'll ever fry.) 3 cups of oil will cook up 3 hefty batches of fries. For me? I did 3 batches on 2 cups...

Excellent choice!
This is a perfect size for my husband and me. It heats quickly and safely. I used it the first time for breaded fish fillets, and they were golden brown and delicious when I removed them from the Fry Daddy. I am extremely pleased with this product, and happily recommend it to others.

Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart CPT-140 Electronic Cool Touch 4-Slice Toaster, White

Worked great for a while
I have the black unit that was refurbished. It toasts very fast (or toasted) so saves on electricity I reckon, but it broke after a year. One year does not seem like good value to me no matter how cheap - it still ends up in the landfill. This unit would get five stars if it had a longer life.

Cuisinart CPT-140
It toasts very well. Do not like it because:
1. It does not shut off automatically when the toast is done.
2. I had to add an ON/OFF switch to avoid having to insert and disconnect the power plug during use.

Not great
Great if u like your toast perfect on one side and not quite up to snuff on the other
Very unbalanced toasting side to side........

Handle fell off after 2 weeks of use, but was easy to screw back on. Inconvenient to clean thoroughly. Next time I would buy two air poppers instead. They cost less and produce as much per batch as this machine.

Kitchen Gourmet Toaster Oven Broiler

avoid at all costs
I just bought this thing and it is horrible. It barely toasts bread and leaves one burnt grill mark on the bread while the rest of it isn't even toasted. The worst part about it is that it makes the bread smell like aluminum and I believe it is unsanitary.

Excellent, perfect size for a single person or couple
This toaster oven is cute and is very easy to use. It bakes, toasts, and broils really well. My food has never tasted like aluminum. It works great for the little Schwan's pizzas. Highly recommended!

Unsanitary Toaster
I was thinking I might really like unsanitary toast. I wanted to have it with my Tuscan Dairy Whole Milk.

Wolfgang Puck WPDCORP20 Bistro Digital Convection Oven with Rotisserie and Pizza Drawer

It's like a huge toaster oven...
The pizza oven works fine but it only heats at 350 degrees so you can't REALLY cook a pizza properly at that temperature. The rotisserrie works OK but the claim that you can put a large bird on there are false. The oven is tiny and the 3# bird has to be tied up tighter than a football to keep from touching the bottom of the oven (it cooks okay though). The standard bake oven is absolutely terrible - it cooks so uneven it's not even funny (I have a pumpkin pie cooking at this moment that has burned streaks on one edges and the middle is still liquid, and yes, I have foil over it) - cookies bake crispy on one end and chewy on the other. The convection is finicky - it will cook things very quickly but it's not easy to get it right since there is no magic time as to exactly when it will be finished.....I baked a fruit pie that was gorgeous on the outside and totally raw on the inside. I ended up cooking it again in the standard oven - I had to keep turning and turning to keep it from...

Was too small for a larger pot. Returned and got the 42L Wolfgang Puck oven.
This looked like a great oven but my larger pots and some rectangular cake pans didn't fit into it. Small counter footprint and probably OK for people heating things up etc. Cute pizza bottom area but wished it had been oven space instead. Never turned it on. I returned it and got the 42L Wolfgang Puck convection oven. So much easier for those that want to have a useful oven that still saves energy instead of heating the regular large oven. The 42 L also has 4 elements at the top which, used on broil, with the upper rack in, means even toasting is quick despite it's size. For versatility, get the larger oven if you have the space.

Poorly manufactured item
I purchased this on the advice of a friend. it arrived without all the parts and since they have been "backordered" for over 4 months and I can not use the rotisserie feature. Next, the door would not close. The body of the oven is on "backorder" also so I am now waiting 6 weeks for that replacement. I think there are some design flaws with this oven and WP Productions is either redesigning or just not going to fix them. I can not ascertain what will happen as you are given no information other than everything is on "backorder." Other than that... the oven cooks quite nicely in the convection and standard modes. The pizza oven is also good if you are cooking a small 6-8 inch personal pizza. The crust was done nicely. Since we have a store that makes fresh pizza in this size, I find this a good feature for me. Too bad the lifetime warrenty is not honored in a timely fashion.

Maxim CM5 Crepe Maker

It doesn't get any easier than this
I have one of these and I love it. If you like crepes, this one makes them perfectly with no cooking skills required. It is pretty much impossible to mess up, because it turns on when you dip it in batter and off when the crepe is ready. All you have to do is watch for the red light - then you let the crepe slide off onto a plate and dip a new one...

Idiot Proof
Want to savor delicious french cuisine but fear it's too hard? Worry no longer. This crepe maker by Maxim is virtually idiot proof. It takes the guess work out of crepe making. By dipping the pan rather than pouring batter into a traditional crepe pan, you can be certain you are getting the right thickness. The pan heats up quickly and even has a pre-timed light which goes off when your crepe is ready. I have purchased this model myself and am more than satisfied. It is so simple that everyone in my family, including my thirteen year old sister, is able to use it. Even comes with a delicious little recipe book to get you started. Happy cooking. :)

Perfect Professional Crepes in Seconds
I bought my first Maxim Crepe maker in 1988- I am still using it. I have made literally 1000's of perfect crepes. Maxim's crepe maker makes perfect, professional looking and tasting crepes in seconds. The recipe book included gives lots of ideas for creative and SUCCESSFUL crepes. It is a perfect addition to any kitchen. I have used it to make breakfast, brunch, dinner and dessert dishes. It is one of the most convenient and versatile kitchen appliances I own. I love it. I am now buying a second one for my catering business.

Black & Decker BLC10650HB Cyclone 10-Speed Blender with 48-Ounce Glass Jar, Black

Overheat, overload
I recently bought this blender elsewhere for $50! Not only does it not blend very well in general, it overheats VERY easily. I've ruined several things including fragile things that should be able to hold up in a blender just fine, such as mayonnaise. It literally boiled it. A blender should be able to run for 5+ minutes without overheating.

terrible
Bought this machine on 2/15/2011 at a local Kmart store. Returned it on 2/16/2011. It's a terrible machine. Tried making a strawberry smoothie but the blades spun for only a couple of seconds before they stopped rotating although the motor kept on working. Don't buy.

Do not buy
Do not buy this blender. The blade assembly fell apart on me after 6 months of use, stripping the nut that holds it all together. (other reviewers have complained about the base falling apart/exploding/etc., so this isn't exactly a rare occurrence.) One would assume you could go down to a hardware store and replace it, but no, it has a reverse thread and is thus a 'special order' item. I called customer service at Black and Decker about a replacement part, and 14 days later they send me the wrong part. Now I'm waiting for a new, and hopefully correct, replacement part to arrive, which will happen a full month after I first contacted them.

In short, the product itself has a flawed design and the Black and Decker customer service people are incompetent. Spend your money elsewhere.

Sunbeam Hand Mixer

Nice mixer
I've had this mixer for several years now and it has held up nicely. It's very powerful even on the lowest setting. Only con is that the finish on the handle comes off unto my hands when I use the mixer. It's a sticky, oily black goo that is hard to wash off. I've wrapped the handle with paper towel so I don't have to touch it. Other than that I'm happy with it.

Tough, inexpensive mixer, but no slow speed setting
Like all the other reviews state, this mixer does not have a low speed, and that will make it unusable for some projects. It pretty much goes from medium-fast to "Holy crap, Dorothy! Grab Toto and head for the storm cellar!!!", so whatever mixing you do will have to be in a relatively tall bowl so that you don't redecorate your kitchen. However, for twelve dollars at Big Lots, it's a steal. It's a robust little machine. I've mixed several cakes with it over the last couple of years, and it shows no sign of wearing down. The beaters quickly detach for easy cleaning.

I have this mixer
I have this mixer and I bought it at big lots for only 12 bucks plus tax. I like the design and overall ergonomics of this mixer. However, I am returning it tomorrow because it is too powerful at it's lowest setting. I wish it was slower so my butter and cream would fly onto my walls. This leaves me wondering who would ever use this machine at it's fastest speed (setting 6). I need something that is spins slower at it's lowest setting.

Handpresso HPWILD Wild 16-Bar Hand-Pump Portable Espresso Machine with Free Handpresso Carrying Case

No durability and questionable as to if you can call cup an espresso
Used for less then 1 year and only while traveling so less then 100 times and the air flow from the pump to the hot water clogged up. It also as per other reviews does not really make a very good espresso. Save yourself a bunch of money and get a good hand press for when you do not have access to a good espresso machine.

Did not work!
I ordered this as a Christmas present. When I received it, it did not work. I tried to return it for a new one. So far I am out of pocket $80 for postage which I had to pay to return the faulty product! ($40 to post to me and $40 to return it) And I do not have the product!

Perfection
I have been toying with the idea of buying a handpresso for the past 2 years; I should never have waited so long. My job entails being on the road 90% of the time and the majority of that time I am in places where it is difficult if not impossible to get a decent shot of espresso. The handpresso allows me to have a quick perfectly pulled shot every morning. I have no complaints regarding this product and encourage anyone interested in getting one to do so; you wont regret it.

Culinair AB351W 10-Speed Blender, 400-Watt, 50-Ounce Capacity, White

Not a good blender
The blender is okay except that it has severe issues with leaking. It worked just fine the first time but the three or four times after that, when we used it, the blender began leaking from the bottom. It made a huge mess of orange julius all over our counter. And it leaked in a way that risked damaging the wiring and electrical stuff on the inside.

Don't buy!
I've had this for awhile still in the box as we were away and I needed to get home and organize my counter to make a place for it. Finally I took it out of the box yesterday, July 30th, checked the directions to make sure everthing was where it should be and was on tightly. I poured in some liquid and some fruit, not even any ice and attempted starting it. I pressed one button and nothing happened, I pressed a second button and nothing happened and continue until one started the blade spining. As soon as it started spining and the liquid started going into the bottom area, so I stopped it, and lifted the entire top off. At this point every bit of liquid came pouring out all over my counter, down onto the floor. I was so angry as I had taken down two cake mixes I wanted to make and the bottom of those were soaked. I've got a feeling the manufacturer called it a Culinair so people would think it was another product with a similiar name. This one is going back for sure. Oh, even...

Excellent Function
I've only used this blender a few times but, so far, it exceeds my expectations. Everything works as it should and it is fairly easy to disassemble and clean. It IS mostly plastic except for the blades, but it came at a good price. I question whether the blades will last forever but it will take significant use (I hope) to find out if they dull.

Waring MX1000XT Xtreme High-Power Blender, Raptor, 64 oz, 120v, NSF

One Fantastic [Fred Waring & Co] Blender
With so much hype about blenders and features now-a-days we decided to take an elementary approach... Taking our time and educating ourselves for a while before purchasing. Over the past several years, we realized the task to find a good, quality blender on the retail market would prove more daunting and certainly frustrating.

There are several things to consider such as; design, weight, capacity, power, speeds and ease of cleaning. I would recommend The New Cooks' Catalogue as a reference. Although many of the appliances and kitchen gadgets illustrated in this book are becoming obsolete, most of the information will remain valuable and sensible. We decided that a practical 2-speed (high and low) blender with an optional pulse switch was all that is necessary.

Initially, we were determined to purchase Waring MX1000R...

Top Gun : The best of the best !
You here the talk about the Vitamix and Blendtec .

Blah ! Blah ! Blah !

Then you have the Waring Pro Raptor Xtreme Power !

This blender Has 3.5 HP , and 45,000 RPM's Of mixing power and speed !

The Waring Pro Extreme makes whatever you blend a masterpiece !

No problems with overheating like some others .

The best part of this blenber is : It's made in the USA !!!

If you want to run with the big dogs you need to step up
to a Waring Pro Raptor Xtreme Power ! And see what it's like to own a real Blender !

The Jury is still debating on this one!!!
I have always wanted to have a powerful blender as I make a lot of smoothies and other types beverages, homemade soups etc. that requires a strong product that you may find used in Starbucks, Jug O Juice...

I have only used it 6 times since I purchased it near the end of 2012. Each time I used it I had to hold the handle of the blender jar so it didn't attempt to twist itself on top of the motor. I noticed a smell coming from it but thought it was just because it was new and needed to be broken in per se. Yesterday, came back from the gym and wanted to make a smoothie for my guests and myself. The smell from the motor was horrible and it would not blend my frozen fruit...very disappointed. My hope is that waring will give great customer service and replace the product with one that does work since it is so new. I will keep you posted with any updates as to how Waring deals with this issue.

Oster Panini Grill with Removable Plates

good buy
i've only used it a couple of times but so far so good i like it alot and i've been using it as opposed to my frying pan when i can..word of caution though to the handle. make sure you read you owner's manual and pull up your release button at the side to avoid breaking the handle.

Quick & Easy to Clean
I'll make this short and simple. If you like the George Foreman Grills you'll love this grill. It is much more versatile and a heck of a lot easier to clean as the grill plates pop right out. Plus you get griddle plates so you can do pancakes or bacon and eggs. Having grill plates that pop right out make a huge difference. The GF grills are a pain to clean, not these.

Very easy to use
I have only had my Gopan for a few days. This first couple days our Japanese friend was helping us to translate some of the basic instructions and the recipe for the gluten free rice bread. Once we understood the basic settings, and which measuring cups/spoons that came with it were what we needed, it was very easy.

For the Gluten Free Rice Bread, there are very few ingredients needed. Rice, rice powder, water, sugar, salt, olive oil and yeast. We are trying to make a yeast free / gluten free bread, so it's just a little bit more difficult than the regular gluten free bread. Our first attempt with a yeast substitute didn't work out. Our second attempt with a yeast substitute did work, but the bread needed a little bit more leavening. However, it was edible, just a little more dense than it should have been and a little undercooked, due to the density. I warmed it up a little, put some oil and salt on it, and my kids loved it. My husband and I tried it too and both thought...

EV%2D11PC9 Custom Prep 11 Cup Food Processor

With a 10 year warranty this sleek, silver bodied baby is a hard to beat powerhouse
I found this model at a local warehouse store and bought it after much debate about whether to go for the Cuisinart or the Kitchenaid. I'm glad I went for this model. It costs less than the Kitchenaid and therefore doesn't have as many gadgets with it, but for my needs at the moment 2 slicing/shredding discs and a 2 blades (pureeing/mixing and dough blade) are good enough for me. The quality of the processor is great. Easy to assemble and the work bowl is very easy to clean. The work bowl has been redesigned from earlier models with little oval openings in the handle in case any water gets in while washing, so it will dry out thoroughly.

The safety features are great too. My first couple times using the machine I didn't have the bowl properly attached, so after a few seconds of me thinking I got a lemon because nothing happened when I pushed the ON button, I realized it was the error of my ways for not attaching the work bowl properly on the base.

It has...

Novice food processor owner very happy with this Cuisinart
I have never owned or used a food processor. I have been researching them and collecting opinions for a few days now. I decided on this one based on a very similar Cuisinart I looked at in a store. I ended up buying this one because it was nearly identical but about $30 less. The only thing I have not been able to figure out is how powerful the motor is, but I decided that what mattered was whether it did what I needed it to do.

So I came home and watched the DVD and read through the instruction book. I decided first to make hummus, which I have always made in a blender or with an immersion blender. I was never able to get it as smooth as I'd like it and I hoped a food processor would take care of that for me. After that I planned to make orange bran flax muffins, which I also used to make in a blender, which left some chunks of orange peel a bit larger than I'd prefer.

The hummus was easy to put together since the bowl is larger than I used to work with for...

Awesome food processor!
I know I sound like everyone else, but after a TON of research, I decided to go with a Cuisinart. I found this 11 cup Custom Prep brushed stainless at Costco for $149. Although it didn't have many reviews yet, I liked the fact that it had a large opening to drop food in, was brushed stainless and an excellent price.
It is the most simple thing to use and even easier to clean up. I love to cook and usually spend hours chopping. I now realize that I should have bought one much sooner! it is quiet and powerful and looks good too. The first thing I made with it was potato salad. What would have normally taken me an hour and 1/2 to chop everything, only took me 4 minutes...WOW! It chops a full onion perfectly in seconds. I'd HIGHLY recommend this!

Applica BD Power Pro Hand Mixer

Black & Decker PowerTHROW is more like it.
I received this as a gift. After about a month of owning it, I decided to try it for the first time. I was going to make whipped mashed potatoes. Thats a basic enough dish that we can all remember our grandmothers making in the kitchen. Its total comfort food. Im so excited! So I have the cooked steamy potatoes in the bowl and the warm milk and pats of fresh butter...I pick up my new hand mixer and turn it to setting #1. In doing so, I realize that this device has the horsepower of a small out board motor and i watch in slow motion as my entire kitchen is splattered with pieces of potato. It was no more than seconds before I turned it off and in that small time, i am not exaggerating in saying that every square inch of my kitchen ; walls floor and ceiling ; was covered in potato. Now thanks to this product every time I think back to my grandmother whipping potatoes in her kitchen It will be shadowed by remembering the day and a half I spent cleaning them up. Following which that mixer...

Cuisinart ICE25R Classic Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker

It actually works!
What else can I say? I made Ice Cream and it was DELICIOUS. And it's sooo easy to make and it's so much better than most of the stuff you can buy at the store.

Pros:
-Extremely easy to use
-Very easy to clean
-No special Ice or Salt required, the frozen bowl actually works

Cons:
-Wish it had a metal paddle with better attachment
-Wish it had a better way to secure the bowl

Ya the cons aren't really cons, they're just wishes because these are things that seem like weak points that may cause issues much later in the future.. but by then you'd probably be looking to upgrade anyway.

Tips:
Don't use a metal spoon within the frozen bowl, you will scratch it. I did, and switched to a good sturdy plastic spoon. Make sure the bowl is FROZEN, leave it over night, also make sure you chill your ice cream batter in the fridge before you churn it.

Watch the Churn Baby Churn episodes of GoodEats, you'll get better...

Awesome little bucket
I just love this little machine! Makes the perfect texture if u leave it running it just gets thicker. I use pioneer woman's vanilla bean ice cream recipe ..its makes two batches!! Perfect every time! Great value too!

Black & Decker EE200 Expresso O Mio - Expresso Maker

Great espresso maker that got a bad reputation.
As an ex-Seattle-ite of 12 years, I am pretty persnickity about my espresso. I found this microwave espresso maker at an upscale retail outlet for discontinued merchandise, in my new home city, and thought, what the heck, it is only $10, what do I have to lose? For ten bucks I got the microwave espresso maker and a frother, basically a beaker with plunger/beater for making steamed milk froth you see on a cappucinno.

After a few attempts, I found the proper setting on my microwave, to make excellent shots of espresso. I did have a couple of messes to clean up before I figured it out. I have a smallish GE microwave purchased in 1997, and don't remember the wattage, but running the microwave for 1 minute and 45 seconds yields almost a full shot of espresso. I empty the result into a cup and put the espresso maker back in the microwave for an additional 10 or 15 seconds which makes enough more to make a good sized shot when added to the first batch. I do this because one...

It was sitting on my shelf unopened....
.. and brand new; I decided to give it a whirl.

There was a little bit of leakage from the unit, but nothing unmanageable, and it did indeed make excellent espresso. Yes the metal cup (and plastic assembly) inside does get hot, but so do the parts from a "regular" espresso maker. A quick rinse in warm or cold water does the trick before fully disassembling. On my next attempt, I made the base tighter and voila! No leakage. Except that it only makes one shot, this is a very neat gadget. I guess it's too bad that it didn't catch on.

... Ok now that it's been here awhile...

Pain in the patootie to use, and the espresso is really not very good. Now I'm sure I know why it's discontinued.

Frother mystery
The product is OK, but when the frother comes apart, beware...no instructions and I have tried every which way to put it back together without success. Searched online and many others have same problem.

Zojirushi NS-DAC10 Advanced Zutto Neuro-Fuzzy 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer

Amazing Rice Cooker!
This Rice Cooker makes perfect sushi rice and perfect jasmine rice every single time. It's easy to clean and it has lasted very well over the past year. I was initially shocked at the price, but it really does deliver.

A pretty rice cooker?
You bet! It's really pretty! And it makes very good rice. This one is replacing another "fuzzy logic" cooker that my family had and loved for years, so my expectations for the quality of rice it cooks are pretty high. This cooker delivers! I don't have to think. It just makes nice rice, and the cooker is pretty enough to bring to the table if needed.

it looks like a spaceship on my kitchen counter
It has only a few functions but do them very well. That's the kind of machines we like.
Ii cooks the mixed grain and porridge so well.

Hamilton Beach 50162 Table Top Blender 700 W 1.75 Quart White Pulse Control

Crappy softeare
This software just gets in my way. Im constantly deleting words to replace them with the words I really said. Its no use and I rather just type out my work myself it would be alot faster. Amazon wont give me a refund so Im stuck with a software thats doesnt work. I spent hours training it but it still doesnt know what im saying.

voice character reader
shipment was on schedule - contents were complete - BUT the headset didn't work - fortunately I had another one to replace it - otherwise this program takes far less editing than my optical character program results take. I like it very much.

Too big for its own good.
I don't know if it is just me, but by the amount of ounces the blender say it can hold it pushing it. I don't believe the motor is strong enough to blend my fruit loaded smoothies I make on occasion. However a quick fix to this problem is just shaking around the ingredients and then start blending again. It does the job but not proficiently.

Waring Commercial BB160S Basic Bar Blender with 32-Ounce Stainless Steel Container

Plastic around blade melted in 2 weeks
Cheaply made plastic casing around the blade melted and blade jammed, making it unusable. Did get a replacement, but this should nothave happened.

World's Best Blender
I have had this blender for 20 years, and I use it A LOT! Still going strong. Forget cheap blenders, I have worn those things out after less than a year.

This thing freezes up the best margaritas you have ever had. Fantastic value for the money!! I would pay $300, really.

If there are any cons, they would be: 1) blades super sharp and easy to cut yourself when you unscrew base for cleaning. (maybe this is all blenders, not sure). 2) it's sort of loud. (who cares if it works great?!). 3) jar won't hold a lot, probably 4 drinks, or 2 huge drinks. This is part of why I love it, though, because this size commercial stainless steel jar has everything to do with freezing drinks, smoothies, etc., to a perfect consistency. People always remark on it when I make them drinks and smoothies. I have other blenders with big glass jars, and I end up not using them at all because the quality of the drink or smoothie is just not comparable.

I am so glad to...

Sundesa - Blender Bottle Blue - 20 oz. ( Multi-Pack)

Don't get why people so jazzed about blender bottles...!
Attn manufacturers: Make the pie higher!

I own 3 blender bottles, and all three of them leak. This did not happen at first but has developed over time.

Listen, blender bottle, your job is to hold liquid and NOT leak, your only job and you suck at it!

Now, a clear bottle made of polypropylene for $7.99 USD is expensive, especially considering that A) it sucks and leaks on you, B) similar ubiquitous bottles like those @Target are about 1/4 of that price. You are essentially paying a premium on the wire whisk ball.

There's nothing special about blender bottles other than them sucking and dripping on you when you drink from them. Mostly you'll be drinking smoothies, but you better drink them quickly otherwise the liquid will get melty and then drip from the crappishly-made seal which uniquely does not contain any kind of gasket like 99% of other bottle's tops.

Gaskets is how tops work, maybe someone should have told the genius...

6" Hand Sealer For Mylar Bags

2 Settings not enough
The Hand-Sealer does not work properly for my purpose. It only has 2 heat settings: Low and High. Using it with poly bags it either melts the bag or doesn't seal enough. Low setting just never heats enough for my purpose. The high setting gets too hot for my use. It seals the bag in less then 1 second. 2 seconds and the bag melts, which results in shrinkage of the bag's edge. Since the 'perfect' timing is within 1/2 second up or down, the result is never quite the same. It would be great if there was a dial to allow for temperature adjustment, to guarantee an even effectiveness.

Update: I love Amazon ! - But since you are not dealing with Amazon directly but with Marketplace - be warned !! Just in case you have to return this item, there will be a 10% restocking fee if returned after 14 days. (at least this was the reasoning for me)
My personal impression about the reply on my return request to OakTea company is that they made it appear to be doing me a favor for...

BUNN Pour-O-Matic VPS Coffee Brewer - 0.5gal - Black

Brews fast, but coffee is weak
This brews the coffee very quickly, however, the coffee is very weak. I tried putting in double the coffee and still weak. I read a lot of reviews (since purchasing this machine) and it seems to be a common issue. I saw two reviews that i will try their fix: 1. put a second filter over the coffee which will act as a "packet" and 2. call Bunn to request a "flow restrictor" free of charge.

Hopefully this helps. I do love the way it brews so quickly though!

This could have been a very nice mill with 5 different screens at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately the blade is not shaped right and does not touch the screens. Consequently the 5-quart mill works more slowly than my old 2-quart mill. I tried returning it but since the packet had been opened the vendor would not take it back.

damaged
I received my 8.5 Fissler Pressure Cooker and when I opened the shipping box I found a badly damaged product box mended w/ tape, lots and lots of tape. There was no packing material in the shipping box to cradle the product box so the thing banged around inside. I unpacked and washed the cooker and found a hairline crack in the handle where it joins the pot. Was I mailed a damaged item or was the damage a result of it being banged around in shipping? Note: the shipping box had no damage. The product came from THE KITCHEN CLIQUE.

Continental Electric 12-Inch Electric Skillet

Doesn't get hot enough
I bought this electric skillet at Ocean State Job Lot because I thought it was a good deal $25, but when I used it, I set the temperature for 450 degrees to fry up some eggplant, and after letting it heat up for about 20 minutes, I put three pieces of eggplant in to be fried, and it seemed to be taking forever. I kept turning them to see if they were getting brown, and they barely had brown marks on them. So I continued to wait, and after about 5 minutes, and they still weren't getting brown on the first side, I decided to take my instant read thermometer and check the temperature. I was shocked to see that it only read between 313 and 319 degrees in different spots. I quickly grabbed my stainless steel chicken fryer, and fried up the rest of the eggplant. This electric skillet is going right back to the store.

Bad Thermostat....
I bought one of these (on Black Friday, but not from Amazon), and it lasted about 2 months, then the thermostat went bad and it stuck on the hottest setting. And it doesn't take but around 1 minute to get to that "hot" temp.

I really loved it while it worked right, but its impossible to use the way it is...

I'm now searching for a different brand....

This is very small compared to my old one which is supposed to be a 6 cup rice cooker. Apparently my old one is 6 cups uncooked rice which would make 12 cups cooked rice. This one makes only 6 cups of cooked rice. I will have to purchase another one to have one big enough

Nice little rice cooker for the price
This rice cooker is a good value. It does a good job cooking rice for a small group of people.

Electric Beverage Warmer Kitchen Gourmet

Expensive version of Mr. Coffee warmer
I was surprised to find that this warmer is essentially identical to the warmer offered for sale by Mr. Coffee, at a much greater cost. I am unimpressed with the Mr. Coffee warmer, and this one, as they fail to keep a mug of coffee hotter than luke warm, especially when the mug is more than half full. If someone can point out a decent mug warmer, I would be grateful. Incidentally, these warmers should never be used as coasters as any water on the warming surface will find its way into the electric element and destroy the warmer - this is yet another reason not to buy this warmer.

OK warmer
I bought this product to replace another warmer I had unfortunately broken. This one barely keeps the mug (and the tea inside) warm enough. I would have preferred a higher temperature. Oh well.

Nothing like a hot cup of coffee or tea... continuously!
No more cold coffee or tea. If I wanted them cold I would use ice cubes. This little gem keeps the drinks warm and hot.

Tayama Electric Cordless 1.2 Liter Stainless Steel Kettle

Totally satisfied
Bought this about 6 weeks ago and use it almost every day to make tea or dissolve soup base. It heats 5 cups of room temperature water to boiling in 6 minutes and 20-something seconds. The max capacity is about 5-1/2 cups (1.2 L). I don't know if it boils water any faster than a kettle on the stove, but it's nice that it shuts itself off when the water boils. The on/off switch is on the top of the handle. There's an indicator light on the left side (handle to your right) to show that it's on.

The interior is stainless steel with the small exception of the sight tube. The plastic sight tube marked in liters faces the inside of the handle. The location makes it a little awkward to read the sight tube. Two small plastic rivets visible inside are the openings to the site tube and hold the handle on, but I don't detect any trace of a plastic taste. Only the bottom rivet is ever immersed in water. The top rivet is above the maximum capacity of the pot. That rivet and...

Bad kettle
This kettle's automatic shutoff began to operate sporadically less than 24 hours after it arrived. The shutoff is unreliable.

Get This One!
Having never heard of the Tayama Brand before I was hesitant to buy this one. I felt buying it from Amazon was safe. After four weeks of daily use I can say at this time...it's just fine! It looks very nice, heats quickly the way you want it to and the price was certainly right.

Farberware FBL500SS Millennium Stainless-Steel 2-Speed Blender

this blender stinks
I got the faberward blender and at first use I thought it was OK. Very soon it got louder and started to take longer each use to make a smoothie- yogurt and a frozen banana pre-chopped into little pieces. By two months it can no longer blend a fresh banana, is horribly loud, and is leaking liquid out of the center bottom around the bearings. Faberware would not refund my money, buat will only give me a re-built blender of the same model.

Very loud and unable to perform
I purchased this product from some other local store but it did not perform as per the price. It looks good but the performance is nothing compared to its appearance. It makes a really really loud noise and I have to keep adding more water to make chutneys and salsa. Then it starts leaking at the base. Avoid at all cost.

Worked well for a while
I bought this blender about a year ago because it was on sale, and it worked well up until recently the liquid started leaking into the base. The problem is the seals that are on the blade assembly go bad, so I contacted Faberware for a replacement blade set and they very politely replied "can't help you". Are you kidding me? The motor in the base still works fantastic and it could be fixed with a $5 part that the manufacturer doesn't sell for some reason. I'm avoiding faberware from now on, I don't want to support a company that contributes needless electronic waste to landfills.
